Councilman Jeff Hmara is currently serving his fourth term on the Village of Royal Palm Beach Council. He is the Vice Chairman of the Treasurer Coast Regional Planning Council, current President of the Rotary Club of Royal Palm Beach, and Founding Member of the Florida Alliance of Retired Americans, Mid-County Chapter.
Jeff is a retired Army Colonel. He is a Vietnam War Veteran-Combat Commander and was a Project Manager for major Army/Defense Systems. Jeff has received the Defense Distinguished Service Medal, Army Legion of Merit, Bronze Star and other military awards. He was also a certified project manager for the Department of Defense. After retiring from the Army, Jeff served as a Federal Senior Executive with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administrations and the Federal Aviation Administration. He has also worked as an adjunct professor at Palm Beach Atlantic University teaching Leadership, Management and Economics.
Jeff received his M.S. in Acquisition and Contracts Management from Florida Institute of Technology and his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from The Citadel. He also attended the Army War College, Command and General Staff College and Defense Systems Management College.
Councilman Jeff Hmara was born in Rahway New Jersey and has been happily married to Carolyn (Leaphart) Hmara for 50 years. They have two children Sharon and Michael and four grandchildren, all of whom, they are extremely proud.
